Freshmen Students of the Week: Round Two

Student of the Week: 

Destiny Williams

 

Destiny Williams is a freshman at Hillside High School. Williams, who previously attended Githens Middle School, was nominated as Freshmen Academy Student of the Week.

Some qualities that apply to Williams are: persistence in giving her personal best, an inspiring example to others, peer leadership, high academic achievement, positive attitude, perseverance, love of learning, desire, determination and lastly diligence to improve.

Williams was also nominated for having high grades. “I got all A’s surprisingly,” Williams said. Williams also stated that she didn't expect this at all. “I was shocked when I heard my name over the intercom; I thought I was in trouble,” Williams said.

“She  always volunteers and has a wonderful personality,” Williams’ teacher, Jason Tant, said.

Tant also stated that Williams has been to school every day and “works hard while being her.”

 

Student of the Week:

Alisha Turner

 

Alisha Turner is a freshman at Hillside High School. Turner, who previously attended Lowes Grove and Githens Middle school, was nominated as Freshmen Academy Student of the Week.

Some qualities that apply to Turner are: persistence in giving personal her best, an inspiring example to others and love of learning.

“I think I got nominated because I always participate,” Turner said. Turner stated that she feels good about being nominated because she can start getting noticed more and be interactive with school.

“This student is an example and a leader in the classroom,” Shakir Brooks, Turner’s teacher, said.

 

Student of the Week: 

Jaleel Usser

 

Jaleel Ussery is a freshman at Hillside High School. Ussery, who previously attended Lowes Grove Middle School, was nominated as Freshmen Academy Student of the Week.

Some qualities that apply to Ussery are: persistance in giving his personal best, an inspiring example to others, perseverance, desire, determination and diligence to improve.

“I think I was nominated because I tutor people who need help,” Ussery said. “I feel good because students come for me for help when they need it,” Ussery stated.

“Jaleel started off the school with a very uncooperative and disagreeable attitude towards me and my class,” Ussery’s teacher Mariama Moody said. Ms. Moody also stated that within the last couple of weeks he has completely changed and has become one of her hardest-working students.

 

Student of the Week: Miracle Garnett

Miracle Garnett is a freshman at Hillside High School. Garnett, who previously attended Rogers Herr Middle School, was nominated as Freshmen Academy Student of the Week.

“I got nominated because I do all of my work, and I help the students who have special needs,” Garnett said. “I feel good because I see what those students go through, and I feel good helping them,” Garnett stated.

Some qualities that apply to Garnett are: persistence in giving her personal best, an inspiring example to others, positive attitude, perseverance, love of learning, desire, determination and diligence to improve. 

“Garnett works hard in class and wants to succeed, she enjoys walking on treadmill and outside every day,” Coach Dan Woodall said.

 

Student of the Week: 

La Ne’ Young

 

La Ne’ Young is a freshman at Hillside High School. Young, who previously attended Brogden  Middle School, was nominated as Freshmen Academy Student of the Week.

Some qualities that apply to Williams are: persistence in giving her personal best, an inspiring example to others, peer leadership, high academic achievement, positive attitude, perseverance, love of learning, desire, determination and lastly diligence to improve.

“I was nominated because I have a high average and work hard for my work,” Young said. 

Young also stated that she feels happy and successful. 

“I was trying my best in participating,” Young said.
