Welcome Class of 2015

Welcome Class of 2015

Band Welcomes Class of 2015

Hillside Class of 2015 came together on August 10th and 11th to see old friends, meet new ones and learn what it means to be a Hornet.  The morning began with the mighty Hornet Marching Band musically welcoming them to their new home followed by a hot breakfast in the cafeteria.  Over 230 students came to listen to Mr. Lassiter welcome them to HHS and speak about the future of the school and of their class.  Mr. Leathers, in one of his final appearances at Hillside before he moves to his new position as principal of Jordan High School, gave a powerpoint talk about what the students should be thinking about as they begin their high school studies.  He warned them that graduation will be here before they know it.  All students took a reading test and ate lunch.

They returned the next day to hear talks by Sheyenne Rodriguez. ABC11 reporter  and her husband, ABC reporter and weekend anchor, Fred Shropshire about personal responsibility.  The rising 9th graders took a math test and then listened to talks about activities at Hillside.  They received their schedules and locker assignments.  The break for lunch was followed by games in the gym lead by Student Government Association members.  Students left at 2:30 feeling more comfortable with their new home, knowing a few more names and faces and with some ideas of the type of behavior that will be expected now that they are HORNETS!!!

We would like to thank the participating members of the Student Government Association and the Theta Sorority for their time and efforts which made this Freshman Orientation such a success.
